February Update

Hi folks,

Well, COVID and snowstorms has made life crazy here in New England. My show at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro was postponed and will now take place this Saturday, February 5th. Tickets can be purchased at www.orpheum.org. I've received cultural council grants from over eighty cities and towns across Massachusetts to come and perform The Highwaymen - Songs & Stories in 2022, which means if you live in Massachusetts, if I'm not coming to your town, I'm almost certainly coming to one very close to you. The best way to stay up to date is by joining my mailing list. You should see a box on my homepage that will allow you to do so. If you can't find it, shoot me an email at mattyorkpembroke@gmail.com and I'll be sure to have you added.

I performed a Billy Joe Shaver song on a radio show that I did on 95.9 FM WATD's Almost Famous earlier this month. For those unfamiliar w/ BIlly Joe, he wrote songs for all four of The Highwaymen, including all but one of the songs on Waylon's seminal album Honky Tonk Heroes. This song, "Bottom Dollar" is one of my favorite songs of his. Click here to listen

One of things I'll be doing each month with this blog is trying to find some rare videos of The Highwaymen people might enjoy. This video is of Johnny Cash performing at The Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA near the end of his career. He was making records with Rick Rubin and had supposedly never performed solo before. This performance was played before a star-studded audience. The American Recordings albums that Rubin and Cash did together led to a huge resurgence in Cash's career.
